The Crucifix

On the opposite side (to the left of the observer), the wooden crucifix fixed in a marble plinth, with its wedge shape facing up, recalls the image of the Golgotha, the “mountain” (hill) on which Jesus was crucified.
On top of the base is depicted, in gilded bronze (by Andrea Gianasso), the snake which goes towards the cross of Christ. Christ died on the cross, has finally won and dominates “the ancient serpent” (Satan).
