Along the central nave, led by the pictorial cycle of the ceiling, the presbytery can be reached, where we find a lot of elements and structures of different nature, and artistic and symbolic richness. To borrow from the Patristic an image dear to the Tradition of the Church, the presbytery could be thought of as the bridge of the ship that is the cathedral church (metaphor of the Church as community of believers). Is the tallest structure of the ship (church) from which the bishop exercises his ministry as guide, pastor or, if preferred, the helmsman placed at the guide of that portion of the People of God who is the diocese.
