3rd chapel on the left

The third chapel houses a fine seventeenth-century painting by Giovan Battista Paggi (1554-1627) depicting the Martyrdom of St. Ursula, performed in the years 1599-1600 for the Company of St. Ursula. The presence of the martyrs in the life of the Church is a very important element, because it expresses the highest degree of fidelity to Jesus Christ from his disciples. The history of the Church is full of martyrs and their witness of life is depicted in places of worship, just to remind everyone that being a disciple of Christ is not small thing, but such a high value to merit and sometimes require even the sacrifice of one’s life.
